Queen Elizabeth’s School open evening hailed a ‘great success’

The new headteacher at Queen Elizabeth’s School in Wimborne welcomed local Year 8 pupils and their parents and carers into the school to learn about the facilities.

Around 1,000 parents, carers and pupils attended, and in his first open evening address as headteacher, Thomas Neill spoke of his pride at taking up leadership.

QE Head Boy, Jake Churchill, also addressed the gathered audience, saying: “A constant throughout my time here: teachers who are motivated and whom I feel I can speak to. It is the teacher that is one of QE’s strongest assets, whether this is in the classroom being supported or in extra curricular endeavours, I have felt nurtured along the way.”

Head Girl, Jodie Teo, told prospective parents and pupils: “While I am proud of my academic achievements, I would say it’s the memories I’ve shared with both students and teachers that I’ll remember.

“These are what makes our school feel special and it’s so inspiring for us all to watch each other thrive in different areas, celebrating each other’s successes and appreciating our differences to make sure everyone feels welcomed and valued’.

The event provided an exclusive chance for parents and carers to discuss the range of opportunities that Queen Elizabeth’s School, part of Initio Learning Trust, provides both academically and pastorally as it supports all students to achieve their full potential.

School leaders, teachers and students were on hand to show visitors around the school site and to answer questions.

Mr Neill said: “We know that joining a secondary school is a major decision and we hope our open evening has helped families in their decision making.

“We want every family that chooses Queen Elizabeth’s to feel confident that they are joining a welcoming family, which cares about every member of our community and their individual needs.”

Queen Elizabeth’s School is running open mornings on Thursday 10th and Wednesday 16th October, where any parents and pupils are welcome to come and have a look around the school.
