Work has started on fifteen Boscombe properties to protect their heritage

A new regeneration scheme for Boscombe is underway.

Work has begun on 15 buildings in the high street in an effort to protect their heritage, after BCP Council was awarded nearly twenty-two million pounds by the government to regenerate 10 major projects.

Other schemes included 68 new flats, a medical and community centre and retail kiosks in Hawkwood Road car park, which was given planning approval by the council earlier this year.

A spokesman for Boscombe Regeneration said: “One of the key things our Boscombe locals highlighted as important to them was protecting the heritage of the high street.

As part of the Better Boscombe funding, 15 shopfronts will be replaced or refreshed to be in keeping with the stunning local architecture that can be seen in our community”.

Free public WiFi along the seafront has been introduced, along with other areas including Boscombe Crescent, Churchill Gardens and Kings Park.

The council are aiming to attract inward investment and deliver economic regeneration, which will include new jobs and training opportunities focusing on Boscombe Town Centre.
