Former AFC Bournemouth Chairman Eddie Mitchell dies

Tributes have been paid to former AFC Bournemouth Chairman Eddie Mitchell who has died at the age of 69.

His family confirmed today that he unexpectedly passed away peacefully at home.

He ran AFC Bournemouth from 2009 to 2013, and has been credited with playing a key role in the club’s rise up the leagues at the time.

Paying tribute, his family added that he was one of a kind and lived his life to the full.

His former club said: “AFC Bournemouth are saddened to learn of the passing of former owner and chairman Eddie Mitchell.”

Mitchell was also part of the reason Sandbanks became the area it is today as a property developer and owner of Seven Developments in the 90s.

The AFC Bournemouth Fans Channel on X said: “Eddie said it how it was, the honesty was refreshing and without him this football club would not be where it is today.

“He was the man who introduced Maxim Demin and had plans for Dean Court. Outside of the club he was a successful entrepreneur & a genuinely nice man.

“Our Thoughts go out to Eddie’s family and friends. Rest in Peace Eddie.”
