Pennyfarthing Homes fixes Recreation Ground drainage issue near new development

Pennyfarthing Homes has fixed a major drainage problem in Alderholt close to its new Oakwood Grove development in the town.

Increased groundwater levels linked to a neighbouring campsite had threatened to disrupt community sporting activities going into the summer months, but action by Pennyfarthing Homes to dig and clear a new drainage ditch has alleviated the problem.

The works have been praised by Alderholt Recreational Association for being completed attentively and professionally, and ensuring no damage was caused to the Recreation Ground playing surface.

Ben Arnold, Land & Planning Director at Pennyfarthing Homes, comments: “Communal sporting amenities are often at the heart of village life and with this in mind, we were thrilled to offer our expertise to the Alderholt Recreational Association to correct this issue which has blighted the village rec.

“By acting with the community interest at the heart of the problem, we have ensured the Recreation Ground’s vital sports facilities are preserved. Pennyfarthing Homes prides itself on adding value to the communities in which we operate, not only through the high-quality homes we deliver but also through community engagement, local investment and employment opportunities.”

The Trustees of Alderholt Recreation Association said: “We were overwhelmed to see such a marvellous job by Pennyfarthing Homes in attending to the Recreation Ground’s drainage problems.

“This has been a troublesome period for our organisation, so it was a magical moment to see that the works had been completed successfully, and we were also extremely grateful for such considerate protection of the playing surface. We highly commend Pennyfarthing Homes for contributing to the Alderholt community in this way.”

Brooklyn Homes Groundworks was contracted by Pennyfarthing Homes to work with them on the project, which involved digging a new drainage ditch as well as clearing the existing front road ditch leading up to the Recreation Ground Entrance.

Oakwood Grove, Pennyfarthing Homes’ latest development is located in Alderholt and is set to launch this May. Situated just a stone’s throw from the Recreation Ground, the development will provide a selection of two, three, and four-bedroom homes, bungalows and apartments set amongst landscaped gardens and a communal pond.

Pennyfarthing Homes are also currently building a new development in Verwood at Potters Wood, which is almost complete.
