More flu vaccines available for Verwood residents

The Cranborne Practice has secured 1,000 vaccines for their patients aged 50-64 who have been added to the national flu programme this year.

Appointments are now available at the Drive Through flu clinic scheduled for Sunday morning 6th December at the Lake Road Surgery.

“Vaccines have finally arrived at the surgery, but stock is limited, so patients in this age group are urged to contact us as soon as possible to book an appointment slot,” says Jo Morris, The Cranborne Practice Manager.

The flu virus kills 11,000 people and hospitalises tens of thousands more in England in an average year. According to NHS England, getting a Flu vaccination is important because:

• if you’re at higher risk from coronavirus, you’re also more at risk of problems from flu

• if you get flu and coronavirus at the same time, research shows you’re more likely to be seriously ill

• it’ll help to reduce pressure on the NHS and social care staff who may be dealing with coronavirus

So, if you or someone you know is eligible, please tell them phone the Practice on 01202 822825 or email cranborne.reception@dorsetgp.nhs.uk with a name and date of birth to book an appointment today.
