Poole Bridge to close for five days

Poole Bridge is set to close for five days later this month while routine maintenance work takes place.

BCP Council says the lifting bridge will shut from 9.30am on Monday 27 April until 6pm on Friday 1 May.

The work will include routine maintenance on the bridge as well as resurfacing and waterproofing on the roads approaching the crossing.

The council said the waterproofing work depends on dry weather conditions and could be affected if there is rain.

During the closure there will be no access across Poole Bridge for vehicles, pedestrians or wheelchair users.

A revised lifting timetable will also be put in place for boats travelling through the harbour.

Twin Sails Bridge is expected to remain open throughout the works, and residents are being advised to plan their journeys in advance.

Poole Bridge, originally built in 1927, is one of two crossings that connect Hamworthy with Poole town centre.
