18-year-old motorcyclist seriously injured
An 18-year-old motorcyclist was taken to hospital after a crash on Hurn Road in East Dorset.
Emergency services were called at 4.18pm on Saturday 11 April 2026 following the single-vehicle collision, which happened between the junctions with Avon Avenue and Avon Castle Road and involved a white KTM motorcycle.
The rider, an 18-year-old man, suffered injuries believed to be potentially life-threatening, while road closures were put in place so emergency crews could respond safely and a full examination of the scene could be carried out.
Hurn Road remains closed while enquiries continue, with Sergeant Dave Cotterill saying officers are working to establish the full circumstances and are keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.
He also urged anyone travelling in the area at the relevant time to check dashcam footage for anything that might assist the investigation, and thanked motorists for their patience during closures needed for a “thorough examination of the scene”.
