Poole Town slipped to a frustrating 2-1 home defeat on Saturday afternoon at Tatnam Stadium.

Gloucester City made the sharper start and controlled possession in attacking areas, with Ellis Watts testing the defence early on before Rylie Siddle gave the visitors the lead after 16 minutes, lifting the ball over Adam Parkes after Poole lost possession deep inside their own half.

The away side continued to threaten, forcing Parkes into an important save and striking the post before the break, while Poole’s best openings fell to Antonio Diaz and Shaquille Gwengwe, whose free kick was blocked as the Dolphins went in trailing at half-time.

Poole responded with greater intent after the restart and were rewarded on 56 minutes when Gwengwe converted Salim Saied’s low cross to make it 1-1 and take his league tally to 34 for the campaign.

The momentum shifted again within moments as Gloucester scored straight from the restart to reclaim the lead, and despite late substitutions and sustained pressure in the closing stages, Poole were unable to find another equaliser and must now regroup ahead of their trip to Dorchester.
