A338 in Christchurch has now re-opened in both directions following a closure for a welfare incident between Blackwater junction and the Ashley Heath interchange.

Congestion remains in the area, but traffic should be moving again.

Dorset Police tells Bournemouth One: “We received a report at 3.32pm on Friday 10 October 2025 raising concern for the welfare of a woman on the A338 Blackwater Bridge.

“Officers are in attendance and the woman is being taken to receive the appropriate care.

“Road closures were put in place to allow emergency services to deal with the incident but these have now been lifted.”

This incident was first reported on Bournemouth One on Friday (10/10/2025 4:06pm).
