Grade expectations as Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole pupils get GCSEs

Teenagers across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole have been celebrating an important milestone today as they collected their GCSE and Key Stage 4 results.

More than four thousand year 11 pupils from the area’s secondary schools discovered the outcome of their studies, marking the end of five years of learning and hard work. Many now move on to college, apprenticeships or training, while others are still deciding which route is right for them.

Councillor Richard Burton, Portfolio Holder for Children, Young People, Education and Skills at BCP Council, said the results represented the “well-earned reward for years of hard work, commitment and resilience” and praised pupils for what they had achieved.

Cathi Hadley, Corporate Director for Children’s Services at BCP Council, also congratulated pupils and expressed thanks to the teachers, staff, parents and carers who have supported them. She said every young person had “done so well to reach this point” and wished them success as they take their next steps.

For those who are still exploring options, support remains available. Schools are the first place for advice, with heads of year, tutors and careers advisers able to provide tailored guidance using pupil records and exam results.

BCP Council has extended its best wishes to all young people in the area as they begin the next stage of their education or career journey.
