New quarry proposed for Alderholt being considered by Dorset Council
Proposals to extract 3.6million tonnes of sand and gravel on an existing farm site at Alderholt are being considered by Dorset Council.
The application is for a site at Midgham Farm, Hillbury Road and comes from the Cemex UK Operations Ltd company, based in Coventry.
The site is immediately to the north of an existing quarry at Hamer Warren, and adjacent the site where 1700 new homes were proposed in 2022.
The planning proposals to the Council includes plans for internal haul roads, a processing plant, silt and freshwater lagoons, stockpiles, conveyors, offices, weighbridge, and other infrastructure, together with the creation of a new permissive path, and the gradual restoration of the site by backfilling.
The application for planning consent to Dorset Council envisages that the 62 hectare site will be in use for twenty years.
Full details of the application, with the ability to comment online, can be seen on the Dorset Council website by searching for P/FUL/2024/07568.
