Motorists advised to leave plenty of time as one of Poole’s busiest roads is closed in both directions

Motorists are being advised to leave plenty of time for their journey as one of Poole’s busiest roads is closed in both directions from today for the next seven weeks.

Ringwood Road will be shut between the entrance to the double roundabout junction with Mannings Heath Road to outside the Volvo Cars Poole dealership.

The closure is to allow Wessex Water to repair a collapsed sewer while BCP Council will also be carrying out planned works.

Traffic will be diverted via Ringwood Road, B3061 (Old Wareham Road) and the A3049 (Dorset Way).

Cllr Andy Hadley, Portfolio Holder for Climate Response, Environment and Energy at BCP Council, said: “We know that well maintained roads are important to our residents, alongside reliable water, gas and electricity services.

“To maintain these underground services and our roads and footways, regular maintenance and improvement is necessary, and sometimes urgent repairs unavoidable.

“Whilst we understand the disruption to traffic that urgent roadworks such as this cause, keeping the road network flowing is our priority and planned works are always carefully assessed and scheduled.

“We advise residents to prepare by checking their route before setting off and leaving plenty of time and to follow the signage and diversion routes.”
