A mermaid sand sculpture appeared on Bournemouth Beach earlier today to celebrate the arrival of a new restaurant.

The Ivy Collection unveiled the five-foot tall, hand-crafted mermaid near the pier, whilst vintage vocal harmony trio, The Bluebird Belles, provided entertainment.

Waiters from The Ivy were also on hand to greet visitors with coffee and fizz, as well as a voucher for a complimentary glass of Champagne.

The new restaurant is set to open in November.
