Action on land, sea and air for day two of this year’s Bournemouth Air Festival

It’s day two of the Bournemouth Air Festival with organisers promising plenty of action on land, sea and air.

Today’s displays include the Swedish fighter jets – the Saab Viggen and Saab Draken – and the RAF Typhoon as well as the Lancaster.

The Red Devils Army Parachute Display Team, which played an important role in the historic D-Day landings 80 years ago, will also perform.

The Royal Navy is playing a big role, including armed combat demonstrations and musicians from the Royal Marines beating the retreat.

Commander Steve Henaghen, pictured, Chief of Staff and Deputy Naval Regional Commander, told Bournemouth One: “I think Bournemouth has a synergy with all the armed forces that’s built up over the last 16 years.

“I think the Royal Navy, the Senior Service, have been the ones that have been here since its inception.

“It’s a big thing in our calendar, we’re always delighted to come back, we’re always welcomed and we always bring a nice footprint with us and the opportunity to speak to the public about what their Royal Navy does.”

The Bournemouth Air Festival continues until tomorrow.

The majority of the action takes place between Bournemouth and Boscombe Piers and a park and ride service is available.

If you don’t want to brave the traffic and crowds, you can watch the entire event online once again this year via the Air Festival website here.
