A new initiative supporting businesses from the Armed Forces Community in Dorset has been created and launched in time for Armed Forces Day today.
The Dorset Armed Forces Community Business Support Network aims to raise the profile of businesses that have been set up locally by someone linked to the Armed Forces Community and covered by the Armed Forces Covenant (AFC).
It will provide business support via mentoring and coaching and share information around funding/grant opportunities, offering a chance to network with likeminded people in a safe environment whilst supporting economic growth.
It also aims to strengthen local entrepreneurial ecosystems, and support businesses at all stages of their development to start, sustain, grow and innovate.
In recognition of Armed Forces Day, Mick Betteridge from Veteran Entrepreneurs and Amy Walton, BCP Council’s Economic Development Officer, hosted a launch event to support the Armed Forces celebration week.
In turn they hope to strengthen local entrepreneurial ecosystems, and support businesses at all stages of their development to start, sustain, grow and innovate.
Amy shared: “The event was all about celebrating local businesses and Services linked to the Armed Forces Community. The engagement, the talent and commitment of those in the room was clear, the message was clear.
“There is a golden thread that is often unseen and silo working happens, but if we learn to work together to see that golden thread we can make great things happen locally!”
Their next event is planned for 30th and you can see more info here.
