Dorset Way in Poole was closed at rush hour this morning following a collision thought to have been caused by a swan on the carriageway.
The incident happened around 8am resulting in a car fire and long delays in the area.
Crews from Poole said they extinguished a vehicle fire on the A3049 Dorset Way, Poole, adding that the fire was the result of a two vehicle RTC caused by a swan in the carriageway.
“There is a police road closure in place so you may wish to take an alternative way to work this morning!”
Dorset Police told Bournemouth One: “We received a report at 7.50am of a two vehicle collision on the A3049 near to Mannings Heath roundabout in Poole. Officers are in attendance with the fire and ambulance services.
“Minor injuries reported. Local authority made aware due to debris on the road. Recovery requested for vehicles.”
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service added: “Two crews from Poole were called to Dorset Way, Poole at 7.50am this morning. The incident involved a two vehicle road traffic collision, with one of the vehicles well alight on arrival.
“Firefighters extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet and our stop was in at 8.23am. Our ambulance and police colleagues along with a member of Wildlife in Need were also in attendance – there is no information about injuries on the log.”
The road re-opened just before 10am.
