Staff and residents in a West Parley care home are raising money for Dementia UK.
They’ve set a challenge at Parley Place to walk 31 miles throughout this month. The group is hoping to raise over four hundred pounds by doing the event and have set up a Just Giving page which can be found here.
Staff will take part in two long walks covering 16 miles on 12th May from Upton Bay to Parley and then eight miles on 26th May from Moors Manor to Hyacinth House in Kings Park, before returning back to the care home. The residents then make up the remaining distance around the gardens of the home and nearby park.
Every three minutes, someone in the UK develops dementia which is described as one of the biggest health challenges of our time. Families often feel overwhelmed and don’t know where to turn which is where Dementia UK comes in so they don’t feel alone.
The staff taking part in the event say any donation, big or small, makes a difference and are asking if you can help support their cause.
