The UK Open Dance Festival returns to the BIC

The Bournemouth International Centre is hosting the UK Open Dance Festival once again this week with hundreds of dancers taking part.

The six day event, which includes The UK Open Championships, features the highest calibre of dancers from around the world, all competing to win a title.

Last year over 4,000 competitors and over 10,000 spectators were involved.

During the week, qualification rounds take place in morning and afternoon sessions, with the evenings hosting the finals rounds.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the six finalists of the main events perform encapsulating solo dances, all performed to the wonderful music and live band of the UK Dance Festival.

The event has been hosted in Bournemouth for the last 40 years and is on until Sunday.

Christopher Short and Robin Short, Directors of Cre8tive Productions Ltd, said; “We are proud to host the United Kingdom Open Dance Festival once again, welcoming the world’s best Ballroom and Latin dancers at Bournemouth International Centre (BIC). The energy this week has been fantastic. Don’t miss the opportunity to see the amazing finalists walk down the famous ‘Blue Steps’ in the Windsor Hall. All are welcome to spectate at the UK Open Dance Festival.”

Steve Turner, BH Live’s Associate Director of Venues said: “We’re so pleased to welcome back this fantastic event to Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) – a tradition that has continued for many years. It is a wonderful week packed with talent and energy, celebrating dancers who travel from around the world to compete for renowned titles.

“It’s an honour to bring this festival to the BCP region year on year, providing a fantastic opportunity for people to come and watch some of the world’s top professional ballroom and latin dancers. If you love watching professional dance, then this is the event for you.”
