No elections for Verwood Town councillors this year due to lack of candidates

Verwood town council will be among the Dorset councils having to co-opt members to make up their numbers this year.

The Verwood council elections, scheduled for May 2, will not now be taking place in Verwood or nearby St Leonards and St Ives after too few put their names forward to be a councillor.

At Verwood the council will be two councillors short, one in the Stephen’s Castle ward and one in Dewlands South while St Leonards and St Ives parish council managed to attract the exact number for each of its three wards.

The uncontested councillors, which you can see here on verwood.gov.uk, will take up office on May the 7th 2024.

Elections for Dorset councillors will continue as normal.
