Police investigating sexual assault in Bournemouth Lower Gardens

Detectives investigating a report of sexual assault in Bournemouth town centre are appealing for information and are looking for a man they would like to speak to as part of their enquiries.

The incident occurred at around 5.40pm on Sunday 13 June 2021 in the Lower Gardens.

The victim, a 16-year-old girl, was walking with a friend from the beach toward the town centre when they were approached by a group of men. One of the group asked the victim if she wanted to go for a chat and led her to an area of bushes near to the crazy golf site, where he sexually assaulted her.

Detective Inspector Amy Burbidge, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We have launched a full investigation into this incident and the victim is being supported by specially-trained officers.

“As part of our investigation, we have obtained images of a man we would like to speak to as part of our enquiries and I would urge anyone with information as to his identity to please come forward.

“I would also ask that anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any further information that might assist our investigation, please contacts us.

“Local officers will be carrying out increased patrols in the area and can be approached by members of the public with any concerns.”
